With many us working from home its never been more important to practice good workspace habits.
If you are working on a laptop you should have a keyboard separate to your laptop. This allows you have your laptop at eye level. If you do not have a workstation to prop up your laptop then use some large books to prop the laptop to your eye level.
Your chair should be the correct height for your desk. Never wear heels at your desk, I know most of you are reading this wearing slippers. Perfect!
If you are sitting at your desk take regular breaks to stretch.
Working at a desk? These Pilates moves should help
To complete these moves use a suitable chair with a back rest for support.
Extension – Sitting upright in your chair stretch your arms up to the ceiling and gently lean back, you can place your hands behind your head to support if you feel this is better for you. You can also use a towel to support your neck – hold the towel in each hand and lean back with the towel behind your neck for support.
Spine stretch forward – Sitting in your chair lean forward let your arms drop down by your sides and lean forward eyes looking towards your knees. Then draw the body back up to seated rolling through the spine starting with your lower back, middle back and lastly coming back to seated.
Practice Pilates breathing with each of those chair moves. Breathing in through the nose, out through pursed lips.
Regular Pilates practice will keep your spine moving, build strength, increase flexibility, and create a feeling of wellbeing in your body.
