Pilates for sport
Pilates for sport
Whatever your sport, Pilates can increase your flexibility, mobility, and muscle strength which helps to prevent injury. It does all of this without creating bulk. Pilates uses isometric movements, working the body in a static position demanding muscle tension without any movement. This increases the tension on muscles and helps to strengthen and tone.
Pilates for golf
Pilates is an excellent way to strengthen the body and help prevent injury by increasing your muscle tone and strength. It also provides you with better flexibility and mobility. Body rotation, flexion and extension in an exercise routine will help to improve your game. Pilates includes all three of those movements alongside Pilates breathing to focus the mind and body on your activity.
Pilates for running
Having a strong core and glutes assists in preventing injuries and overcompensating on using certain muscle groups when running. And, by strengthening the body, we become more aware of each muscle group and its function. In a recent study published in ‘Plos One’, trained runners who took part in a 12-week course of pilates (two one-hour sessions each week) significantly improved their 5K time, VO2 max and the metabolic cost of running.
